Alone on Valentine's Day

Dear Singles on Valentine’s Day,

I know February 14 can be rough for you. It’s rough for me too. Everyone’s going out buying flowers and cards and chocolate in order to impress that special someone, and if you’re like me, there’s a temptation to fall into despair when thinking about it.

But this is the end of the world. Maybe this year, it’s good that you’re single. Perhaps there are some habits you need to work on before you’re ready to date someone. Maybe you’re too focused on personal goals and don’t have the energy to try some dating. Whatever your reason may be, it’s perfectly okay to be single this Valentine’s Day.

Why?

Because your work isn’t defined by whether or not you’re in a relationship, and being in a relationship will not automatically guarantee your happiness. Take comfort in the fact that if you’re single right now, today might be preparing you for future relationship. Even if that isn’t the case, and end up spending the rest of your life alone, and doesn’t mean you’re living without love. So go and another single friend today. Tell them how much you love them. I’m sure they’ll need to hear those words as much as you do.

Love,

Inkwell
